Small Space Declutter!

We are having a LOT more time at home lately, so I have been taking the smaller spaces in my house and decluttering and reorganizing. I don’t always love the process but I LOVE the result.

It is easy to get overwhelmed with the BIG projects or rooms in our house that need organizing. Starting with small projects can help with motivation for the bigger ones.

Anytime I declutter and organize any space I take these 4 simple steps:

  1. CLEAR OUT!– Take EVERYTHING out/away from the space so you can start from a clean slate and also visualize how much stuff you really have in that space. It always amazed me how much stuff fits in small spaces!
  2. SAY GOODBYE!-This is a CRITICAL step! Don’t skip it! Grab a trash bag and throw away anything that can’t be donated, is expired, or isn’t usable. If I haven’t used it in the past month, it’s usually a goner! Grab a bag/box for donations and donate or sell what you don’t need!
  3. CATEGORIZE!- Group your items and decide what you will need to use to keep each group of items contained/organized in your space. I always look in my house for baskets and/or containers I already have. I love to use the dollar store and Hobby Lobby for baskets, containers, etc.
  4. ORGANIZE!–This is the best step! You will feel SO much better! It doesn’t have to be perfect and you don’t have to spend a fortune!

I always try to take BEFORE and AFTER pictures just so I can see the difference! It fuels me for the next project!!

This was my master bathroom closet BEFORE…I was able to throw a lot of things away!

And this is AFTER! SO much better. The baskets are from Hobby Lobby! They are super versatile, lots of sizes/colors, and inexpensive!

I also tackled my kitchen baking drawer. The baskets also from Hobby Lobby!

I had 2 leftover yellow baskets so I used them in my spice cabinet for my loose spices.

If you have any organization projects to share, I would love to see it! Please leave a photo and/or comment below!!
