SO EASY Instant Pot Yogurt

It took me a while to convince myself that I wanted and Instant Pot, but now I am SO glad I bought it. I continue to try new things in it and the latest is homemade yogurt!! Yum! We eat a lot of yogurt in my house and it can get quite expensive! Also, many yogurts sold in stores have added processed ingredients, sugar, and food coloring.  Honestly, I was quite frustrated the first time it didn’t turn out, but I realized the problem was my thermometer wasn’t working properly and if you are making yogurt, getting the right temperature is critical! I used the recipe from Tidbits to make the yogurt.  She has pictures and videos to go along with it and it’s super easy to follow! I used whole organic milk and 2% plain Fage Greek yogurt in mine. I wouldn’t recommend using flavored or sweetened yogurt for your starter!

Here is what mine looked like the 2nd time around. So easy!

The 3rd time I made yogurt it was even better!!!! This time I strained it using my nut milk bag overnight in the fridge and wow was it creamy and perfect!!!! You can use cheesecloth if you don’t have a yogurt strainer or milk bag.

It takes a little bit of time to get it started but then the Instant Pot does the rest! This entire pot of yogurt cost me $6!! After it’s done and has been chilled in the fridge, you can add whatever you want to it! We made strawberry yogurt by pureed strawberries with vanilla and a little sugar. And ALL of my kids ate this! SCORE! A fun idea would be to let them help you.  It is a great learning experience on how yogurt is made but most of all I believe kids love making things from scratch with their own 2 hands!  Sometimes when I ask my kids to help me they sometimes are uninterested or distracted with other things, so I just try and encourage and keep persuading. Usually, they overcome and get into it!

If you have any questions, please connect with me!  If you have made yogurt in the Instant Pot, I would love to hear what you have done! Please leave comments below!!!

My menu is sometimes incomplete and I’m totally ok with that. My goal is always to plan at least 3-4 meals throughout the week with at least one night as “scrounge” night. #familytablethyme
